Pricing Factors

What Determines Your Final Price?

Bariatric surgery pricing depends on more than the procedure alone. Here is what shapes your quote.

Procedure type and complexity

Sleeve, bypass and band have different operating times and equipment costs. Revisions and combined procedures (hiatal hernia repair, gallbladder removal) increase the total.

BMI and medical history

A higher BMI, diabetes or other comorbidities mean more pre-operative tests, longer anesthesia and closer post-operative monitoring.

Hospital accreditation and standards

JCI/ISO-accredited hospitals with dedicated bariatric units price higher than non-accredited facilities. HEAL U works exclusively with accredited centers.

Length of hospital stay

Most packages cover 4–5 nights in a private room. A longer stay — often needed for higher-BMI patients — adds to the price.

Surgeon experience

Surgeons who are IFSO/SOFFCO members and perform bariatric surgery regularly command higher fees, and for good reason: experience drives outcomes.

Included aftercare

HEAL U packages include 1-year post-operative follow-up, nutrition coaching and the 24h medical review. Many European clinics bill these separately.

Why Choose HEAL U for Your Bariatric Surgery?

In medical tourism, the cheapest operation can mean the wrong surgeon. We prioritize surgical safety and long-term results.

Our Bariatric Surgeon Standards

We only work with surgeons who are members of international bariatric societies and perform these procedures regularly.

  • Board-Certified Bariatric Surgeons (SOFFCO / IFSO Members)
  • JCI/ISO-Accredited Hospitals with Bariatric Units
  • Multidisciplinary Pre-Operative Assessment (BMI, Comorbidities)
  • 1-Year Post-Operative Follow-Up Included

The HEAL U Standard

We coordinate your entire weight-loss journey — from pre-operative assessments and surgeon selection to surgery, hospital stay and long-term follow-up.

The 24h Medical Review

Your medical file is reviewed within 24 hours by our Medical Director, with a clear recommendation and a detailed quote.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the prices all-inclusive?

Indicated prices cover the surgical procedure, hospital stay, anesthesia and standard follow-up. Flight, accommodation and optional tests are arranged separately by our care team.

Who is a candidate for bariatric surgery?

Generally, a BMI above 40, or above 35 with obesity-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes, qualifies. Our Medical Director validates every file before any commitment.

How long do I need to stay in Tunisia?

Most patients stay 10 to 14 days: surgery on day 2–3, discharge around day 4–5, and a final check-up before departure. Most return to work 2 to 3 weeks later.

How much weight will I lose?

Sleeve gastrectomy typically removes 60–70% of excess weight within 12–18 months. Gastric bypass achieves similar results and often better glycemic control in diabetic patients.

Are your bariatric surgeons accredited?

Yes. We partner exclusively with board-certified bariatric surgeons who are members of international societies (IFSO, SOFFCO) and operate in JCI/ISO-accredited hospitals.

Is financing or a payment plan available?

Yes. We offer staged payments: a deposit secures your surgical date and the balance is due before surgery. Our care team can also point you to medical-travel financing options in your country.

Are flights and hotel included in the price?

No. The price covers surgery, hospital stay, anesthesia and follow-up. Our care team arranges flights and accommodation separately at preferential rates.

Can I travel with a companion?

Yes — most patients do. We can book your companion at the same hotel at a discounted rate and support them through the journey, including hospital visits.

What documents do I need for the 24h medical review?

Send your weight history, BMI, medication list and any recent blood tests or a letter from your GP if you have one. Our Medical Director reviews your file within 24 hours.

How soon can I fly home after surgery?

Most patients fly home 10–14 days after arrival, following the final check-up. We advise against flying sooner, and we confirm your fitness to travel before departure.

Do you offer revision surgery?

Yes. We cover sleeve conversion (€4,200), bypass revision (€4,500) and gastric band removal (€1,500) for patients who had surgery elsewhere. Every file is validated by our Medical Director first.

Why are prices so much lower than in Europe?

Lower operating and labor costs in Tunisia — not lower standards. Our partner hospitals are JCI/ISO-accredited and our surgeons are trained internationally, often in Europe.
