Understanding the Technique: Classic IVF or ICSI?

IVF consists of reproducing the meeting between the egg and sperm in the laboratory. Based on your fertility assessment, we adapt the technique.

Classic IVF

Eggs and sperm are brought together in a test tube. Fertilization occurs spontaneously. This is the original technique, ideal for tubal infertility (blocked tubes) or unexplained infertility.

ICSI IVF (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection)

This is the standard with our partners. The difference with ICSI IVF lies in its precision: the biologist selects the best sperm and injects it directly into the egg.Indication: Recommended for male infertility (poor or low-motility sperm) or after classic IVF failures. It significantly increases the fertilization rate.

The 4 Key Steps of an IVF Cycle

"How does IVF work?" This is the question all couples ask. A complete IVF cycle lasts about 15 to 20 days on site (or can be split into two trips).

Ovarian Stimulation

For 10 to 12 days, you administer hormonal injections (subcutaneous) to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple follicles. Monitoring is done via ultrasound and blood tests.

Egg Retrieval (Puncture)

Once the follicles are mature, they are collected transvaginally under ultrasound guidance. This step is done under light general anesthesia or sedation to avoid any IVF pain.

Fertilization and Culture (Laboratory)

The eggs are fertilized (ICSI). The resulting embryos develop in an incubator for 3 to 5 days (Blastocyst stage).

Embryo Transfer

The best embryo(s) are gently placed into the uterus using a thin catheter. This is a quick and painless procedure. Excess embryos can be frozen (vitrification).

Stimulation & Monitoring

At the start of your cycle, you begin the stimulation injections. You are monitored daily or every other day by ultrasound and blood test at our partner clinic. Our coordinator ensures your comfort and good communication with the medical team.

Retrieval, Fertilization & Transfer

Egg retrieval takes place under light anesthesia (painless 20-min procedure). On the same day, fertilization by ICSI is performed. We monitor embryo development for you. 3 to 5 days later, the embryo transfer is performed. You leave with clear instructions for the waiting period.

Result & Post-transfer Follow-up

You can return home 1 to 2 days after the transfer. About 12 days after the transfer, you take a Beta-HCG blood test. We stay in close contact with you to analyze the result and arrange a teleconsultation with your gynecologist to discuss the next steps (next steps in case of success or analysis of causes in case of failure).
